That famous California burger chain everyone's been talking about is making waves with some serious expansion plans. The cult following that surrounds In-N-Out has stretched far beyond its West Coast roots, and now the company is finally answering calls from eager customers across the country with exciting news.

Despite its traditionally measured approach to growth, In-N-Out is currently planning to open new restaurants in New Mexico and Tennessee in coming years. For a company that has built its reputation on quality control and fresh ingredients, this represents a major shift in their expansion strategy.

In-N-Out is moving forward with its latest phase of growth, listing five new restaurant locations across three states as "opening soon." Three of the upcoming sites will be in Tennessee, where the company is also establishing its second headquarters. The chain, long celebrated for its Double-Double and praised by food legend Anthony Bourdain, has steadily extended its footprint beyond California in recent years.

Despite the company's growing national presence, CEO Lynsi Snyder downplayed the possibility of expanding to the East Coast. On the "Relatable" podcast, she explained that logistical constraints limit how far the brand can stretch its supply chain. While Tennessee can be serviced from a Texas warehouse, Snyder said states like Florida and other East Coast markets will continue to hear "no" from the company for now.

Snyder also addressed her complicated feelings toward California, where the majority of In-N-Out locations remain. She expressed frustration over state regulations, particularly those implemented during the 2020 pandemic, but later softened her remarks in a statement posted on Instagram. Snyder reaffirmed her pride in the company's origins and its loyal California customer base, emphasizing that the state remains central to In-N-Out's identity.

In-N-Out confirmed earlier this year that many corporate employees will transition from the longtime Irvine office to facilities in Baldwin Park, the city where the chain was founded in 1948. The move, expected to finish by 2029, places staff closer to the company's roots and one mile from its original restaurant. Meanwhile, the new Tennessee headquarters, located near Nashville, remains on track to open in 2026, marking a major milestone in the chain's eastward expansion - but not a departure from California.

The Tennessee expansion represents something truly historic for In-N-Out fans. For decades, people have made pilgrimages to California just to taste what all the fuss was about. Now, with construction well underway and hiring already begun for these locations, that famous "animal style" experience is finally coming to the South.

What do you think about In-N-Out's expansion strategy? Are you excited to finally try their legendary burgers closer to home?
