On April 2, McDonald's announced it's revamping the McValue menu and launching new deals to keep things hot and fresh. Starting April 21, the Golden Arches is expanding its value offerings by giving fans more choices on the McValue Menu at participating restaurants nationwide, building on fan feedback with more choice, flexibility, and meals at a great price.
The fast-food giant announced the full lineup of its revamped McValue menu, signaling a strategic retreat from record-high prices that have alienated its core customer base - launching a standardized, nationwide menu featuring 10 items under $3 and a new $4 breakfast bundle, with the new strategy prioritizing "predictable everyday low prices" over complex, app-only digital coupons.
The Under $3 Menu: What's on It

The updated McValue menu introduces a new Under $3 Menu featuring items across both breakfast and dinner menus. Breakfast options include the Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Burrito, Hash Browns, and a medium McCafé Premium Roast Coffee. For lunch and dinner, items under $3 include the McChicken, McDouble, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a medium soft drink.
McDonald's has also said that it'll be periodically slashing the prices of some of its most popular menu items, with examples like its Sausage McMuffin dropping to $1.50, and its McDouble dropping down to $2.50. The core McValue Menu, though, will be available every day. That makes it genuinely useful for regular customers rather than just a one-off promotional stunt.
The $4 Breakfast Meal Deal

At the slightly higher price of $4 sits the new Breakfast McValue Meal Deal, which is a carry-over from the regular menu to the earlier portions of the day. Customers will be able to order a Sausage McMuffin or Sausage Biscuit with a portion of Hash Browns and a small McCafé Premium Roast Coffee for $4.
The $4 meal deal features breakfast options including a McMuffin, hash brown and coffee - a combination that offers real savings for morning commuters who might otherwise spend considerably more on a coffee run alone. The company said the changes are designed to offer more flexibility and consistent pricing throughout the day.
The Lunch and Dinner Meal Deals Staying Put

McDonald's is also continuing its meal deals in its main menu, with said deals starting at $5. Customers can grab a McChicken Meal Deal for $5 or a McDouble Meal Deal for $6, and with each they'll get a 4-pack of nuggets, a small fries, and a small drink.
McDonald's will continue offering its $5 and $6 lunch and dinner meal deals, which come with a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fry and small fountain drink. These deals remain a cornerstone of the McValue platform and give customers a bundled option that goes well beyond what a single item purchase would offer at that price point.
Replacing What Came Before: The Evolution of McValue

The standardized selection will replace McDonald's current McValue menu, which lets customers choose from a limited array of $1 items if they purchase a regular-priced item. McDonald's said in a message to franchisees that the 2026 McValue update was approved by franchisee groups with "unanimous alignment," and it plans to start training restaurants on the new deals and meals in the coming weeks.
In 2024, McDonald's introduced $5 meal deals and, by January 2025, added a range of $1 options that customers could pair with a full-priced item. It debuted the McValue menu in January 2025, and last fall it brought out Extra Value Meals, which promise a 15% discount for a bundled meal compared to buying items individually. Each phase has been a step toward what is now a cleaner, more predictable structure.
Why McDonald's Is Doing This Now

McDonald's has been pushing for nearly two years to cement itself as an affordable destination after surveys showed that many fast-food customers no longer considered it to be one. Historically, prices for food away from home rise roughly 3.5% per year, but in 2023 they rose 7%, in 2024 they rose 4%, and in 2025 they rose 3.8%, according to government figures.
CEO Chris Kempczinski said during a February investor call that the team's efforts are working - with more lower-income consumers ordering combo meals and customers giving the chain higher marks for affordability. Kempczinski also said there is growing evidence the company's value push is working, particularly among lower-income consumers who have been most affected by inflation.
Franchisee Buy-In and Nationwide Availability

The changes received broad support from franchisees and most U.S. stores will be offering them. Around 95% of McDonald's U.S. stores are owned and operated by franchisees, who set their own pricing. That level of franchisee participation is notable - it wasn't a foregone conclusion that independent store owners would agree to lower their prices across the board.
Some of the items already cost less than $3 in some parts of the U.S., but others don't. The new standardized menu is designed to bring consistency across the country so customers know what to expect regardless of which location they walk into. "For generations, McDonald's has been committed to delivering great value our fans can count on," said Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. "As our customers' expectations evolve, we're making it easier for them to get the value they're looking for - on their terms."
How McDonald's Stacks Up Against the Competition

In January, Taco Bell launched a Luxe Value Menu, which also features 10 items that cost $3 or less. Panera Bread introduced its first value menu in February, with 10 items priced at $4.99 each. Wendy's revamped its Biggie Deals value menu in January, which now features $4 Biggie Bites, a $6 Biggie Bag and an $8 Biggie Bundle. KFC recently added $5 bowls to its U.S. menu.
As Roger Beahm, an emeritus professor of marketing at Wake Forest University's School of Business, put it: "In all retail, including quick-serve restaurants, 'value' has become a promotional expectation." Fast food's juggling act - investing in value through promotions while raising prices on premium items - appears to be paying off, according to Revenue Management Solutions, a restaurant consulting company, with customer traffic at U.S. fast-food restaurants rising in February after being down during the last three months of 2025 and in January.
When and Where to Get the New Items

Starting April 21 at participating restaurants nationwide, the chain is giving customers "more choice and flexibility" with a brand-new Under $3 Menu and a $4 Breakfast Meal Deal, alongside deals already on offer. The launch date applies to most locations, though availability can vary slightly depending on franchisee participation and regional rollout schedules.
McValue and loyalty accounted for roughly half of visits in the U.S., which shows just how central affordable options have become to how customers interact with the brand. Whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast on the way to work or looking for a full lunch without spending much, McDonald's is expanding its value lineup with a revamped McValue menu set to launch nationwide on April 21, building on the platform's 2025 debut and introducing new low-cost options across breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
