    ❤️ Why you'll love it

This is one of my favorite desserts and you won't believe how delicious it is. Some ingredients used like fresh thyme add a light savory flavor that compliments the sweetness of the dish.

    • Perfect as a snack or for breakfast
    • Simple to make

    • 8 x 8-inch baking dish

    🍳 How to Make

At the bottom of the post, there is a full list of step-by-step instructions.

Step 1. Set the oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking dish. In a bowl, add the apples, and lemon juice. Combine with maple syrup, apple juice, cinnamon, allspice, thyme leaves, and salt. Put the topping ingredients into another bowl and combine with the oats until fully coated.

Step 2. Add the apple mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly. Add the topping mixture on top and spread evenly. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown on top. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until bubbly and crisp. Take it out and allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes.

Adding the ingredients into a baking pan.

Hint: To make sure the apple crisp doesn't become too browned, you can place aluminum foil over top while baking for the last 15 to 20 minutes.

    🥄 Variations

You can use some of the options below to alter the recipe to your liking.

    • You can use any baking apples that you like; I personally like granny smith or pink lady apples.
    • Old-fashioned oats are a great option but you can use another style of oats.
    • You can keep out whatever spices you want and add more of something else.

    🍽️ What to Serve With

This is best served by itself or with a sweet topping like vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream. You can try other kinds of ice cream if you like.

    🍶 Storing

Refrigerator Storage: You can store in the fridge for up to 5 days or place at room temperature. Make sure though it's in an airtight container.

Freezer Storage: You can freeze this recipe for up to 3 months if you want it to last awhile.

    💭Top Tips

    • It's best to use baking apples for this recipe so that they will hold up in the oven. If you use other kinds of apples, they will become mushy.
    • You can use butter or spray oil to grease the baking dish.
    • For easy removal, you can also use parchment paper.

This Apple Crisp recipe is a crunchy, sweet, and delicious treat that is made with only a few ingredients.

    Course: Breakfast
    Cuisine: American
    Keyword: Apple Crisp
    Servings: 4 people
    Ingredients
    • 6 large apples cored, peeled, and sliced
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice fresh
    • ⅓ cup real maple syrup
    • 2 tablespoon 100% apple juice sugar free
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
    • ½ teaspoon allspice ground
    • 1½ teaspoon thyme leaves fresh
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    Topping Ingredients:
    • 1 cup rolled oats old-fashioned
    • ⅓ cup flour almond
    • ⅓ cup almonds sliced
    • ⅓ cup honey preferably local
    • 3 tablespoon butter unsalted, melted
    Instructions
    1. Place top oven rack in the center position and pre-heat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8” x 8” baking dish and set aside.
    2. Place apples in a large non-reactive bowl and toss with fresh lemon juice. Add maple syrup, apple juice, cinnamon, allspice, thyme leaves, and salt. Toss to combine and set aside.
    3. Combine topping ingredients in a separate bowl and stir until oats are thoroughly coated and all ingredients are well combined. Set aside.
    4. Pour apple mixture into prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer. Spread the topping evenly across the top in a uniform layer, as well.
    5. Place into pre-heated oven and bake for 30 minutes. If the top layer is nicely browned, cover dish loosely with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. Continue baking for another 15-20 minutes or until the apple crisp is nice and bubbling. Remove from oven and set aside to cool for 5-10 minutes.
    6. Serve warm with some vanilla bean iced cream or freshly whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy!
