This cake is similar to that of an upside-down cake, but not exactly the same. Upside-down cake is more of a flipped cake whereas a dump cake is basically dumping all your ingredients into the pot and cooking.

Tips For A Delicious Pineapple Cherry Dump Cake:

Here are a great set of tips that I love to follow when making any kind of instant pot dump cake recipe:

  • I like to tilt the plate around every few minutes to allow the cake to absorb the juices and make sure to get all the sugary sweetness infused into the cake.
  • For this recipe, I like to use my 6-quart Instant Pot Duo.
  • To add extra spice or flavor to a dump cake, I like to add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 of nutmeg.
  • For anyone who prefers to not have cherries in this recipe, that’s okay! This recipe can be made without them.
  • If you find that you don’t have slices of pineapple, chunks will work just as well.
  • I like to buy two boxes of cake mix so I can make two batches with each can of cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple I have. You’ll only need a half can of each for one dump cake! You can also bake them both at the same time with this Stackable Stainless Steel Steamer Insert Pans with Sling!
