Instant Pot Caramelized Banana Walnut French Toast takes the already amazing baked french toast recipe and makes it even better! Why? Every time I bake my french toast it is wonderful, BUT the sides are always a little burnt and dry by the time my center is cooked through. With the Instant Pot, your entire french toast is cooked through AND stays moist! None of that burnt edges stuff! Not anymore! Not with your Instant Pot! Instant Pot French Toast is amazing.
Instant Pot French Toast
To get started, go ahead and prepare your baking dish with a light non-stick baking spray. Of course, you should make sure it fits inside your Instant Pot before you begin!
The next thing you will want to do is slice french bread into cubes and set it aside while you slice your bananas. Do you remember making a banana recipe with your grandmother and she would hold the banana while slicing it directly into the pot? Although you probably love to remember her wrinkled hands cutting those bananas, it's really faster to set it down and do all the slicing at once on your cutting board. Promise.
Now that your pan is greased and everything is slicked up, go ahead and starting building your french toast! Add a layer of the bread, filling your pan ¼ of the way full. Add sliced bananas over the bread. Sprinkle on a little bit of the brown sugar, maple extract, and sugar.
Before moving on to the next bread later, you'll want to add this special step. Cream cheese is the special suprise center of this french toast. It add a little creamy pop of flavor to the finished breakfast. Don't skip it! Beat your cream cheese on until it’s creamy enough to spread, then sneak that layer right on top of the bananas! Are you excited yet?
Yummy!

Make French Toast in Instant Pot
Repeat with another layer of bread and bananas.
Take a few slices of butter and set them on top of your final layer.
Using a mixer, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until the eggs are fully beaten and frothy. You don't want little chunks of egg in your french toast, it's a very unpleasant experience when everything else is so sweet to have that random bite of chewy savory egg! Once everything is incorporated together well, pour your egg mixture over the bread.
Get your Instant Pot ready! Prepare your Instant Pot by adding a ½ cup of water. Add your trivet to the bottom. Place your baking dish on top of the trivet. Close. Set the High Pressure to high for timer for 25 minutes. When timer goes off, turn the steam release valve to “venting”. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the french toast to settle and become firm.
After the pressure release is complete, remove your perfect pan from your Instant Pot. Place a large plate over the baking dish and carefully flip it over. Lift the baking dish away from the french toast (you may need pot holders for this!). Rest for another 5 minutes.
Before you serve, cook sliced bananas, walnuts and maple syrup in a small pan over medium heat. Stir often to prevent burning. Top the french toast with the hot walnut banana syrup. Serve your Instant Pot Caramelized Banana Walnut French Toast immediately.
